Pregnancy Accommodations
Salt Lake Community College is committed to creating an inclusive and accessible environment for pregnant and parenting students. Title IX prohibits discrimination on the basis of pregnancy, childbirth, false pregnancy, termination of pregnancy, or recovery; and the College will not exclude a student from participating in an educational program. Reasonable adjustments will be provided to allow a pregnant student to fully participate in educational opportunities. Requests for requests for consideration of pregnancy-related needs can be made with Accessibility & Disability Services.
Pregnancy-related absences and Medical Leave
Pregnant students have the right to pregnancy-related absences and medically appointed treatments should be excused. Consideration for flexibility with assignment deadlines during pregnancy-related absences is an expectation. Pregnant students can apply for leave of absence by contacting Accessibility & Disability Services.
Request a Pregnancy-Related Accommodation
Students who are pregnant or have a pregnancy-related condition, are entitled to reasonable accommodations to allow the student to continue their educational pursuits. Accommodations cannot alter the essential functions of the course. Fundamental alterations may need to be determined through an interactive process through the Accessibility & Disability Services.
