Apprenticeships

While enrolled in an Apprenticeship program, apprentices will earn wages from their employers during business hours, gain on-the-job learning and job-related classroom instruction, work under a mentor in the work setting, and achieve nationally recognized credentials.

Electrical Lineworkers construct, install, maintain, and measure the delivery and usage of energy to various consumers. Salt Lake Community College provides technical instruction for the Intermountain Power Superintendent’s Association (IPSA) Department of Labor registered apprenticeships. These apprentices work as Lineworkers, Substation Technicians, and Metering Technicians for public utilities and contractors. If you're not employed as an apprentice with an IPSA-affiliated employer, check out our Pre-Apprenticeship Program to gain essential skills. Electric power employers seeking information about SLCC Lineworker Apprenticeship programs, please contact Rhett Bigelow.
