Bruin Dreams Scholarship
The Bruin Dreams Scholarship is a private scholarship specifically designed to support students who often face significant barriers to accessing higher education due to their immigration status.
Bruin Dreams is made possible by generous donations from SLCC faculty, staff, students, and community members throughout the greater Salt Lake area, reflecting a strong commitment to the educational success of this community.
Bruin Dreams is offered 3 times a year!
Based on the semester you plan on attending, here are the designated deadlines to apply:
- Fall – June 30
- Spring – December 1
- Summer – May 1
Bruin Dreams recipients must adhere to these requirements:
- For students paying in-state tuition: Register or be registered for at least 6 credit hours for the semester you are seeking aid.
- For students paying out-of-state tuition: Register or be registered for at least 3 credit hours for the semester you are seeking aid.
- For students in a Salt Lake Tech program, like English-as-a-Second Language: Register or be registered for at least 2 credit hours for the semester you are seeking aid.
Earn or maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5. A GPA is not required to apply for the scholarship. However, if your GPA falls below a 2.5 as a recipient, it will affect your eligibility for future semesters.
- Participate in the Bruin Dreams Mentorship Program. There are multiple requirements that must be met within the mentorship program to remain eligible for Bruin Dreams for future semesters.
- You will be paired with a mentor who may be a part of our Undocumented Student Resource Committee, is staff and/or faculty member, or is a peer mentor at SLCC.

Important Considerations
- This scholarship is becoming increasingly competitive, and funding is limited. Be sure that your application is strong and that you stand out as a scholarship candidate.
- Students can apply every semester and receive the scholarship multiple times.
- Awards can be deferred to a following semester (within the same academic year). For example, a student offered funding for Fall semester can defer to Spring or Summer of the following year.
- The application for each semester can be found on Scholarship Universe. You must be an SLCC student and have created your MySLCC account to apply.
- First-time Scholarship Universe users will need to activate their account. They can also set text reminders for upcoming deadlines.
