Statement: When people think of community, they think of a group of people united by cause. When people think of the whale, they think of a statue meant to represent "save the whales." The whale is a mix of both of those things and neither. The whale is a message, addressed to people of multiple backgrounds. It’s a message that they belong to a community. The whale is a message carefully sculpted, precisely painted, and placed in the center of multiple roads representing multiple communities and choices. This is the whale.
