Disclosure of Higher Education Costs
House Bill 248
According to Utah House Bill 248, each institution within the state system of higher education is required to plainly disclose to its students the full cost of instruction, the portion of that amount collected from student tuition and fees, and the difference that is paid by state tax dollars and other monies.
2025-2026 School Year
The estimated average full cost of instruction and fees for a 15-credit-hour (full-time) semester at Salt Lake Community College is $7,290. The portion resident students are responsible for paying, known as tuition and fees or full “sticker price”, is $2,271. Tuition and fees account for approximately 31% of the full cost of instruction and fee services. The remaining cost of instruction not covered by tuition and fees, which amounts to an estimated $5,019 (69%), is supported by state tax funds.
