Controlling the Game through Education

“I’ve been playing softball since I was six years old and pitching since I was eight!” said Aubrie Hansen, an incoming freshman at SLCC and pitcher for the Bruin Softball team. “This first year at SLCC, I’m really looking forward to my classes and excited to play softball for the SLCC Bruins.”

A recent graduate from Tooele High School, Aubrie loves spending time outdoors with her family, enjoying activities like hunting, fishing, and camping when she's not on the softball field.

"My cousins introduced me to softball when I was a kid, and I just fell in love with the sport,” Aubrie said. “My pitching coach was a student at SLCC, and I’ve wanted to play for SLCC ever since." When asked what she enjoys most about softball, she shared, "I like pitching because it gives me more control of the game.”

Aubrie is a proud recipient of an athletic scholarship from SLCC. “My scholarship allows me to focus on school, my education, and sports without stressing about how to pay for tuition,” said Aubrie. “This scholarship is helping me stay out of student loan debt, giving me more control over my future.”

Pursuing an associate’s degree in business, Aubrie hopes to learn the necessary skills to take over her grandma’s pet grooming business once she graduates.

“I’m so thankful to those who give and support scholarships,” said Aubrie. “They are making a huge difference in the lives of students.”
