Accounting Clerk (KAC2)

The Accounting Clerk Program enables students to develop entry-level skills in the office accounting and/or bookkeeping areas. The most up-to-date tools necessary for securing and maintaining employment are emphasized throughout the program. Emphasis is placed on standard accounting office procedures including presentation software (MS PowerPoint), team skills and activities, and exposure to other software packages including MS Outlook. Secretarial accounting, computer based accounting principles, data-entry, skill building, speed and accuracy, customer service, spreadsheets (MS Excel), and word processing (MS Word) are also emphasized.

Requirements
Prospective students must have been assessed (TABE) within 90 days prior to enrollment
- Reading: 10.0
- Math: 8.0
- Keyboarding speed of 30 CWPM (correct words per minute) on a 5 minute timing
- 10 Key speed of 5,000 sph (strokes per hour) on a 5-minute timing with 98% accuracy

COURSE/PROGRAM DELIVERY MODEL
This program is offered in a Competency Based Education (CBE) format. It is divided into several payment periods consisting of 10-weeks each, except for the final one which is variable in length. This allows students to accelerate and complete as many courses as they can within each of those time periods while the tuition and fees remain fixed. Students will be expected to invest a minimum of 16 to 24 hours per week on coursework and will enroll in each course according to the established sequence in the catalog.
