Concurrent Enrollment

Class Status

SLCC academic department have established grade limit recommendations for certain classes based on several factors in order to ensure student success. These factors include spacing between classes, mature course content, and age limits established by accreditation bodies.

For example, if a student who is a freshman were to complete SPAN 1010 for example during their freshman year, and did not take SPAN 1020 until after high school graduation, enough time would have passed to make it difficult for the student to be successful in SPAN 1020.

For other classes there are age-based limits based on federal, state, or accreditation guidelines. For example, the emergency medical technician certifiying body requires that students be 18 years old at the time they complete the final exam.

Additionally, some courses contain material of a sexual, religious, or political nature that students are required to discuss and write about in an objective manner, which departments have determined would be inappropriate for less mature audiences.

To view the class status limit recommendations assigned to each course visit the "Course Offerings" section of the concurrent enrollment website. Under each course you will a  "Recommended Grade Limits" section where those limits are posted.
