About Us

The Community Writing Center was founded with a simple philosophy: everyone can write. Our belief is that writing is something anyone can engage in. You may not think of yourself as a writer, and that’s okay. But think about all the writing that you did today alone. Did you make an update on social media? Perhaps you wrote an email? Text much? Or have you ever kept a journal? If you have written anything, you are a writer. You don’t have to be the world’s greatest poet, nor do you have to be a published author to be considered a writer. At the Community Writing Center, we challenge all the myths that prevent people from thinking they can write. And as a community writing center we go beyond simply helping writers like you write—we seek to build our community by joining people together for the sheer joy of expressing ourselves through writing.

Join us for one of our many workshops ranging from fiction to writing for social change. Drop in for a free one-on-one coaching session, or simply to write in a quiet space filled with people who are thrilled to help you hone your craft. And don’t for get to check out one of our Community Writing Series where you can meet likeminded writers with a passion for the written word.
