Welcome to Campus Safety
The Public Safety Department provides Campus Safety Officers (CSO's) on Taylorsville Redwood, Jordan, South City, Miller, West Pointe, West Valley, and Herriman campuses.
Campus Safety Officers
There are considerable differences between campus safety officer’s and a security guard. CSO’s must stay up to date with rules, regulations, and federal laws such as Clery and Title IX. CSO’s may supplement campus police or partner with local police. To keep the campus community as safe as possible, campus safety officers respond to a wide range of safety and security concerns. They may be tasked as a building manager, or as incident command to students and faculty during an emergency. CSOs have direct radio communication with the Utah Highway Patrol and emergency services.
Parking Lot Safety Escorts
A parking lot safety escort service is available through SLCC’s Department of Public Safety. Request the service by calling 801-957-3800 from any campus between 6:00-10:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The nearest Campus Safety Officer (CSO) will be dispatched to escort you to your car. If a CSO is not available, a Utah Highway Patrol officer is available at select locations. It is advisable that you use the buddy system and walk with a friend after dark.
Vehicle Lockout and Jumpstart Services
Many CSOs are efficient in providing lockout and jumpstart services. Prior to service, a damage waiver must be signed. Request the service by calling 801-957-3800. Due to the nature of many vehicles having airbags or intricate lock systems a locksmith or UHP officer may need to be called.
