Holiday Leave Policy

Comments

As written, this policy doesn’t address the Friday closures and how to handle holidays that fall on Fridays or Saturdays during the summer.

Strongly agree with [comment] above. Additionally, it would make more sense to reserve a Friday for Juneteenth instead of a Monday. This policy is basically saying no Monday classes in the summer. Is the plan to work 4 x 10 and do T-F? This makes sense, but otherwise, it is killing summers. I would also like to point out that if a holiday is going to be forced off a designated day, I would prefer it be Pioneer Day over Juneteenth

I think [the comment above’s] point is valid as the policy does not address the Friday summer closures during the months of May, June, and July. Clarity is needed for when a holiday falls on a Friday during the summer months.

I think if you are working the 4 tens in the summer then you would still have Friday off, but you just work your 8 hours M-Th instead of working 10 hrs.

Concerns that this policy does not address Friday summer closures – M-TH, 4-week schedule.

A holiday that falls on Friday will be observed on Thursday.

This policy basically says there are no Monday classes in the summer. Is the plan to work a T-F schedule? This makes more sense to avoid negatively affecting summer classes.

Thank you for your comment. Holidays that fall on Mondays will not be changed.

It would make more sense to reserve a Friday for Juneteenth instead of a Monday. I would also like to point out that if a holiday is going to be forced off a designated day, I would prefer it be Pioneer Day over Juneteenth.

The day Juneteenth is observed is determined by the legislature. SLCC also observes Pioneer Day as determined by the legislature.

I think if you are working the 4day-10hr schedule in the summer then you would still have Friday off, but you just work your 8 hours M-Th instead of working 10 hrs.

As good stewards of taxpayer monies, full-time employees are still to work a 40-hour work week during the summer schedule.
