This 3-year program provides students with a clear pathway from secondary education to full-time employment with career advancement through a three-year apprenticeship. The program engages students in their junior year of high school to begin progression toward a completed apprenticeship in mechanical or electrical production. Additional specialty tracks will be available to students and industry partners in the future, while the core content in advanced manufacturing remains the foundation of the degree.

Enrollment Steps

Step 2: Meet with Your Academic Advisor
Schedule an appointment (in-person, phone, or video call) with an Academic Advisor to verify your program of study & find out about placement testing requirements. Contact the Academic Advising Office:

Step 3: Placement Testing(if required)
For Certificate Programs: Schedule your CASAS Test
For Degree Programs (AS, AAS, Apprenticeship):
Schedule the SLCC Math and Reading Placement
Once your placement test is completed. Contact your advisor to plan your course schedule and to register.

This program is only open to students in their Junior Year of high school. Students will apply to the program through Stadler Rail, the host company.

Upon completion students may be offered a full-time position by their host company.

The State of Utah was one of only seven states where more than 10% of the workforce was employed in advanced manufacturing.

If you are approved for funding, Utah Works will pay 100% of the cost of the tuition associated with the course.
