Misty Cox is the Social Work Program Coordinator at Salt Lake Community College, where she supports students pursuing careers in behavioral health and social work. A graduate of SLCC’s Substance Use Disorder Counseling (SUDC) program and a licensed SUDC professional, Misty brings firsthand experience in addiction recovery, group facilitation, and individual counseling.

With a Bachelor's degree in Child and Adolescent Development from San Francisco State University, Misty is passionate about student success, program development, and strengthening behavioral health education. She will begin pursuing a Master of Social Work at The Ohio State University in May 2025, furthering her commitment to the field.

Committed to empowering students and advancing behavioral health education, Misty fosters inclusive learning environments that equip future social workers for meaningful, community-driven careers. She firmly believes that every individual, regardless of their background or experience, contributes unique value and possesses the capacity to create positive change within their sphere of influence.

Outside of work, Misty enjoys crocheting, reading, and bringing friends and family together for gatherings of any size. She cherishes time with her husband of 23 years and their two daughters, ages 21 and 12.
