Pursuing Her Passion

Abella Vo’s curiosity about the healthcare field began in her younger years when her older sister would share her experiences of different rotations in medical school. The youngest of four, Abella, has been a dreamer and someone who has pursued her passion, whether it was baking, playing volleyball, or actively pursuing a career in the medical field.

As a recent High School graduate, senior year did not look like a traditional year, as she would transition from High School student to college student in the blink of an eye while working on earning her Surgical Technology certificate. The reason for her laser focus on education is that she has a medical school on her horizon. “Surgical Technology has not only provided me with experience in the medical field, but it has also afforded me the opportunity of personal and educational growth in a field where I can help make a difference in people’s,” says Abella.

Abella would like to express her gratitude to the Metallica Scholarship Foundation for providing her with the opportunity to obtain financial assistance for her certification, allowing her to focus solely on her academics without the financial burden of college tuition for her and her family.

One of Abella’s dreams for the future is to work as a doctor in a Neonatal Unit, where she can provide care for babies and help them recover so they can return home with their families. As for now, she looks forward to starting her clinicals and doing her best to provide quality care and assistance in the operating room.
