Tif Rousculp
Director
Tif is the founding director of the Community Writing Center and Professor of Writing Studies at Salt Lake Community College. She has been teaching composition, linguistics and writing studies courses for the past three decades. Her areas of interest include community literacy, writing centers, and critical democratic, collective partnerships with students, community members, and community organizations. She is honored to be back at the Community Writing Center.

Daniel Baird
Associate Director
Daniel Baird is the Associate Director of the Community Writing Center, an Associate Professor of English at Salt Lake Community College, and the faculty advisor for SLCC’s Literary and Art Magazine, Folio. As Associate Director, Daniel oversees the youth programs. He earned his PhD in Comparative literature from the University of Oregon where he specialized Chinese, Japanese, and British literature. Daniel enjoys being in and writing about nature and also focuses on meditative and spiritual writing. Outside of work you can find him VR gaming and playing cello, double bass, and viola da gamba in various community orchestras.

Lisa Donaldson
Writing Consultant/Offsite Coordinator
Lisa is a student at the University of Utah working towards a BA in Writing and Rhetoric and a minor in Environment and Sustainability. She is passionate about environmental justice, and feels that writing and communication are vital tools to empower individuals and communities. She enjoys writing about the natural world, and her environmental writing is published in the first edition of Earth Tones Undergraduate Journal. Lisa is also working as an editor for the 2019 and 2020 editions of the Undergraduate Journal of Contemporary Issues and Media. She loves animals and the outdoors, and spends her free time gardening, hiking, camping, paddle boarding, and enjoying live music concerts.

Oliver Harrington
Marketing Coordinator
Driven by a strong commitment to social justice, equity, and equal access to education, Oliver strives to make a positive impact in the lives of others. Since graduating from SLCC in 2023 with degrees in English, Psychology, and Sociology, Oliver plans to further his education at the University of Utah, hoping to help make the world around him a better place. Much of his time outside of school or work is spent catering to the whims of his very spoiled cats. Outside of his academic and professional pursuits, Oliver enjoys spending his free time writing, drawing, gardening (when the weather allows), and immersing himself in books and video games.

Kobe Rathsavong
Writing Consultant/Volunteer Coordinator
Born to a refugee family from Laos, Kobe enjoys reading, thinking about life, cooking and writing. He is working towards two bachelor’s in history, and writing and rhetoric studies He also enjoys video games, boba, petting dogs and painting his Warhammer 40,000 miniatures. He is passionate and cares deeply about social issues. He graduated from Salt Lake Community College and the University of Utah, and he is now currently getting his Master’s from the University of Utah in Writing and Rhetoric studies. His goals and dreams involve being financially stable one day.

Mia Manfredi
Writing Consultant/Literary Arts Coordinator
Mia is Colorado State University alumni. She graduated in May of 2023 with a Bachelor of Arts in English (Creative Writing) and Sociology. Mia is a dedicated activist, artist, and writer. She loves to read and write creative non-fiction, literary fiction, and poetry. Mia feels extremely passionate about restorative and transformative justice programs and cares deeply about equitable literacy opportunities. In her spare time, Mia loves to paint, sketch, and create music. She also enjoys spending time outdoors, hiking and camping with her partner and their friends.

Frank Vales
Writing Consultant/Publications Coordinator
Francis (Frank) is a recent graduate of Salt Lake Community College in Writing Studies. He plans to continue his education in Irish Gaelic and Arabic language studies. He enjoys writing in many forms, including poetry, journalism, creative nonfiction, fiction, and academic publications. He is also proud to write for Salt Lake Community College’s newspaper, The Globe. His writing especially reflects his passion for the intersection between writing and social justice, with emphases on disability rights, mental health awareness, 2SLGBTQ+ inclusion, and religious topics. An avid horror and mystery fan, one of his long-term goals is to publish the horror novel that he works on in his free time. When he’s not writing, you can find him reading, making art, and doting on his delightfully demanding cat, Bernice.
