Academic Probation (P2)
Students whose Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) remains below 2.0 for a second consecutive semester are placed on academic probation, and a registration hold is placed on the student’s account. A notice will be sent to students informing them of the academic probation and the registration hold.
If a student is placed on academic probation, the following actions should be completed to identify strategies for improving their GPA and removing their registration hold:
- Complete the online form P2 Academic Probation: Exploring my Obstacles and Opportunities
- Make an appointment with their primary academic advisor. Advisors are assigned by your current program of study. Students can make an appointment online by signing into MySLCC, visiting the "Advising" tab and logging into MySuccess. The primary advisor will be listed under “Your Connections.” Students can also call the Academic Advising office at 801-957-4978 for assistance identifying their advisor and making an appointment.
Academic Advisors make plans with students to improve their GPA which may include retaking classes, submitting appeals, or connecting them to an SLCC department that has resources specific to their situation. If a student is receiving financial aid, the advisor can also assist with appeals related to the Satisfactory Academic Progress they need to be eligible to receive financial aid.
