ASL Lab

The ASL Lab provides a nurturing environment where students can develop American Sign Language skills and knowledge. The Lab has resources to help students become proficient in both receptive and expressive communication skills related to American Sign Language. Tutoring

Free tutoring is provided for students enrolled in any ASL language courses and will receive assistance from tutors with native or near-native proficiency.

Schedule an Appointment

To Make an Appointment

First, log into your SLCC MyPage account, then go back to this page, and click the "SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT" tab above to schedule an tutoring session. Find the language and tutor, enter required information to schedule the session that fits your schedule.

To Cancel an Appointment

We ask that appointments cancellation be done at least 24 hours in advance. To cancel a tutoring session, go to your confirmation email (this email will have been sent to email address provided when making the appointment) and click the "RESCHEDULE" button. This will open a new window where you can cancel, or reschedule the appointment. If a tutoring session needs to be cancelled near the scheduled time due to emergency or unforeseen situations, please email the ASL Lab Coordinator, Amy Eberly at asli@slcc.edu as soon as you can.

Online Appointment Requirements

  1. Show respect to the tutor.
  2. Must have a strong internet connection.
  3. Use a desktop or laptop.
  4. Be in a well lit, quiet distraction free space.
  5. The camera must be on.

If you have a problem with your appointment

If you have a bad experience with your appointment (tutor doesn't show up, doesn't seem prepared, etc.), please let us know as soon as possible. Please send an e-mail (asli@slcc.edu) telling us when your appointment was, who it was with, and we will take care of it.
