Teacher Education Scholarships
Teacher Recruitment Scholarship (TRS)
PURPOSE: To increase the number of teachers in Utah schools that come from a broad range of backgrounds.
WHO SHOULD APPLY: Any high school seniors who have a background that would allow them to best support underrespresented students in k-12 schools, are permanent residents of the U.S., whose major is education, and who has a high school GPA of 2.5 or above.
WHAT IT COVERS:
- Tuition and fees
- Access to free textbooks
REQUIREMENTS:
- Take 15 credit hours per semester.
- Take 2 EDU/FHS classes each semester.
- Maintain a 2.5 GPA your first year, then maintain a 3.0 GPA your second year.
- Attend your scholarship class (EDU 1003) with no more than 2 absences each semester
Teacher Education Initiative Scholarship (TEI)
PURPOSE: To address the teacher shortage by recruiting, retaining, and training teachers to teach in the state of Utah.
WHO SHOULD APPLY: Any student whose major is Education and who has a GPA of 3.0 or above.
WHAT IT COVERS:
- Tuition and/or fees
- Access to free textbooks
REQUIREMENTS:
- Take 12 credit hours per semester.
- Take 2 EDU/FHS classes each semester.
- Maintain a 3.0 GPA.
- Attend your scholarship class (EDU 1003) with no more than 2 absences each semester
Instructions for applying for either scholarship
- Apply to attend Salt Lake Community College.
- Declare Education as your major.
- Go to the SLCC Scholarship Application website and fill out the scholarship application completely.
