Lois Oestreich
Education Adjunct Faculty
Originally from Pacific Northwest, Lois served as both an adjunct and full-time faculty member of SLCC’s Education Program for over 20 years. She retired Professor Emeritus but still tackles an online class now and then. As a fulltime faculty member, she was instrumental in co-creating many of the current education courses.
A former elementary school teacher and administrator, Lois has an extensive background in teaching and learning. With special education as the driving force, she completed a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology with an emphasis in learning theory and teacher licensure at Southern Oregon University. Even though her original teaching license was in elementary education, she promoted inclusive classrooms, a passion that allowed her to work with exceptional learners in a general classroom setting.
Lois completed an MEd in Curriculum Development at Westminster College with a focus on the many diverse facets in K-6 curriculum. This is where her dedication to multicultural education developed. Finally, she holds an EdS in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies and was awarded a principal licensure from the University of Northern Colorado.
On a personal note, Lois is a wife, mother, and grandmother (the grandkids call her Nana). She and her husband grew up together and have been married for over 40 years. They have two grown daughters and six grandchildren. Recently, Lois and her husband moved to their home in Depoe Bay, Oregon to retire near family.
