Through a wide variety of media, styles and concepts, local artists Pam Beach, Linnie Brown, Krysta Dimick, Rebecca Klundt, Yvonne Krause, Jessica Rasmussen, Susan Riedley, Christina Stanley, Cheryl Walden, and Camille Wheatley present "Games We Play," an entertaining and thought-provoking exploration of games, how we play them, what games mean to these artists and their broader impact on society.
Whether we define ourselves through fashion, redefine the shapes around us with new perspectives, endeavor to understand how the decisions of political power players affect us, or imagine the inner-thoughts of the animals in our lives, we have endless opportunities to interpret the social, natural, and man-made world around us. In that sense we can all be game players, rather than spectators. But who among us is willing to be a game-changer?
This remarkable group of Utah artists reside in Heber City, Lehi, and all around Salt Lake County and are connected through a shared love of creating art. With varied backgrounds in psychology, graphic design, architecture, writing, producing and teaching art, including at the college level, these women find creative ways to process and reflect their unique lives and experiences. They are family women, educated and curious, lovers of nature, women of faith, involved in their communities and the world around them.
This event is a double opening reception for both "Games We Play" and "The Lesser Chaos" exhibitions. Visit the SLCC Exhibitions page for more information.
