Language Center

The Center for Languages (CfL) is dedicated to fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment that empowers students to develop proficiency in various languages. Our commitment extends beyond language acquisition to cultivating a sense of community and preparing students to thrive in a globalized society.

Hours:
Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m.-7 p.m.
Friday: 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Schedule a placement test If you already have experience with a language through classes, family or visiting a country, you can take a placement test to potentially skip a level and register in a more advanced class.

Schedule a Proficiency Exam If you are an A.A. student and have a language requirement, you can take a proficiency exam to try to test out of the language requirement and receive 4 credits.

Schedule a Tutoring Session Tutoring is available for all students, faculty, and staff in a variety of languages. Sessions can take place at the center or online via Microsoft Teams.

Reserve the Lab Faculty, offices, and organizations may reserve the lab for events, classes, or exams. If you need special arrangements, please contact Lin Chen, the coordinator, at lin.chen@slcc.edu.

Take a proctored language assignment or test If your language instructor requires the use of Lockdown Browser and/or Monitor Respondus, you can take proctored assignments and assessments in our lab without the need of being recorded.
