Nancy Giraldo - Jordan Campus Coordinator
Hi I am Nancy L. Giraldo. I am from Colombia and came to the USA to obtain my master’s degree in Linguistics and Computer-Assisted Instructions to teach/learn languages. My professional life has been dedicated to teaching and supporting students. That is why I joined SLCC Academic Advising in 2012, then I moved to the Student Orientation and Success Office because I enjoy guiding and supporting students to be successful as they step into college from college orientation to classroom success.
Alyssa Snyder - South City Coordinator
Hi, my name is Alyssa! I grew up low-income and was the first in my family to attend college. I majored in Sociology with a focus on equity in education. In my spare time I like to read queer books, go rock climbing, and take care of my many houseplants. I'm looking forward to supporting you on your educational journey here at SLCC!

Hello, my name is Zitlalli Herrera, and I am Mexican American. I have a master's degree in student affairs and a bachelor's in psychology. I enjoy spending time with my family, eating at new places, and watching cheesy movies/series.
Belen Castro Ruiz - Taylorsville Coordinator
Hello everyone! My name is Belen Castro Ruiz. I am a First-Generation Latina, I graduated from SLCC in 2023 with an Associate Degree in Education and am pursing a Bachelors Degree in Ethnic and Gender Studies at the University of Utah. I am here to form a genuine connection with the students I help, and support them in reaching their educational and personal goals. When I am not working or doing homework, I love to go to the gym, watch reality TV shows, and hang out with family/friends!
Joan López Figueroa - Taylorsville Coordinator
I am Joan López Figueroa and I am originally from Guanajuato, México. I attended SLCC and University of Utah and I now have a bachelor’s degree in Architecture. I am here to offer you my support and guidance to help you navigate college!! When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, and my dog. You can also catch me playing soccer, working out, going for a run, or binge watching a show.
Jonathan Herrera - Taylorsville Coordinator
My name is Jonathan Herrera and I identify as Non-Binary, my pronouns are They/Them/Theirs. I was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, and graduated with a high school diploma from Granger High in the year of 2017. Later on the years, I attended Weber State University where I got the chance to complete a bachelor’s In Health Promotion and also a bachelor’s in Nutrition in the year 2022. Hobbies that I enjoy doing in my free time consist of weight training, attending cultural events, playing video games, shopping, and spending time with my siblings. As a first-generation college student, it is an honor to be able to continue advocating for this population. As I settle into the program, my main goal is to provide educational resources and guidance for those students who are interested in attending a higher education Institution.
