HOW TO REGISTER
Traditionally, craft or technician positions of this nature require employees to complete an apprentice program. Apprenticeship programs meet the training needs of employees currently working in the industry.
Prospective students should be prepared for the physical demands of the work of entry-level technician positions when considering program enrollment. Typical industry standards include passing a physical exam and demonstrating the ability to repeatedly lift 50 pounds or more, climbing ladders, working in confined spaces, and working at significant heights.
This one-of-a-kind in the Western United States part-time Lineworker Pre-Apprenticeship program provides students with the core knowledge and fundamental skills necessary for entry-level positions in the electric power industry. This cost-efficient program includes important core knowledge and skills taught in the classroom and in the lab but does not provide the depth of “on-the-job” training that lineworker apprentices receive. Students will be exposed to a wider spectrum of electric power technology topics and the accompanying career options they present so the student will be prepared for multiple career paths.
Certification Includes:
- Wooden Pole Climbing Certification
- Pole Top Rescue Certification
- Bucket Truck Rescue Certification
- First Aid, CPR & AED Certification
- OSHA10 Construction Trades Certification
If you are approved for funding, STIT will pay 50% of the cost of the tuition associated with the course.
