Bogotá, Colombia
Program Details
Colombia is home to vibrant cultures and offers immersive experiences focused on Latin American history, politics, economics, literary and artistic movements that allow students the opportunity to experience different facets of Latin America while staying in one country. Colombia’s biodiversity and geographical location lend an ideal environment for students to gain a deeper understanding of present-day issues in Latin America such us: socioeconomic disparities, indigenous peoples’ perspectives and struggles in relation to hegemonic groups, modern day issues of relations between the local and the global. Students will also question historical power dynamics socially and politically to understand and dismantle cultural stereotypes. Students will be guided to keep a critical perspective while learning about environments and cultures, and will also engage in a local service project.
