High Impact Practices Award at the Gail Miller School of Business
Starts Fall 2024
The High Impact Practices Award at the Gail Miller School of Business (HIP Award) provides students the opportunity to take the concepts they learn in the classroom “to the next level” through activities and projects of interest to them, many of which may serve a greater good within the community. The Business HIPs enrich education. Students may draw from any of the following activities or design a project and submit it for approval.
- Undergraduate Research
- Work on a project with a non-profit organization
- Publication Studies Courses and Projects
- Community Engaged Learning project
- Global/International Learning/Study Abroad
- Inquiry-Based Research and Scenario-Based Learning
- Capstone Courses and Projects
- Attend discipline specific conferences
HIP Award Eligibility and Application Requirements
- Declared major in one of the Gail Miller School of Business programs
- Enroll in at least 6 credits each semester
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 to apply OR recommendation of 2 SLCC faculty members
- Essay
What you will do?
Students who apply for the HIPs award at the Gail Miller School of Business will experience a broad range of opportunities that align with the habits of mind that are critical to success across the spectrum of careers in business. To accomplish this
goal, students commit to fulfill each of the following requirements:
- Complete a FAFSA
- Complete the Business HIP award application
- After funds are used, write a reflection on the completed project
