Team & Values
Shared Values of Our Center's Staff
Purpose within SLCC
We connect students to the community, resources, and programs that cultivate empowerment, leadership, and social change.
Trust
Trust is a continuous process in which every member of our team offers mutual support; believes in their colleagues’ good intentions; provides feedback as an act of love; and has faith in the skills, abilities, expertise, and experiences of their colleagues.
The outcome of this process is a team that feels connected to one another through a sense of belonging, accountability, support, camaraderie, joy, and ongoing commitment to our mission.
Advocacy
Advocacy supports the success of students through resources, programming, and opportunities. We listen to the needs of our community; increase awareness and visibility of those needs; and respond with intentional action.
Our commitment to advocacy is what empowers us to make change in ourselves, our programs, and our institution.
Sustainability
Through times of change, it’s critical to ensure the programs and resources can be sustained for years to come. We commit fully in each moment to be present, aware, and proactive. To embody sustainable processes, we document policies and procedures; adapt to changing student needs; and make strategic, long-lasting decisions.
Our value in sustainability ensures the longevity of our programs; aligns us with our mission; increases the reliability and consistency of our work; prioritizes equitable use of resources; and increases accessibility.
