Child Care Business Trainings
In partnership with Department of Workforce Services Office of Child Care, providers are invited to participate in workshops to help develop a stronger business. Open to all licensed Home-Based and Center-Based child care providers in the state of Utah and taught online.
Business Fundamentals
16-Hour course
Center-Based: 8/29/2024 and 3/27/2025
Home-Based: 9/10/2024 and 3/18/2025
Participants are introduced to tools and resources to make their child care businesses sustainable – including marketing, human resources, financial literacy, and outside resources. It also incorporates the Iron Triangle theory of strengthening businesses of Utah’s early care and education (ECE) programs. Those who successfully complete this course will have a completed business plan. Each participant will receive up to two hours of individual coaching by appointment.
Eligible for both Career Ladder and NAC credits.
Budgeting for Childcare
12-Hour Course
Center-Based: 7/18/2024 and 1/9/2025
Home-Based: 11/5/2024 and 5/13/2025
Designed for child care providers who desire to learn how to build a budget and the sound business principles behind it. As a result of this training, participants will be able to gather data needed for a budget, analyze cost per child, evaluate rates, and create both a one-year and five-year budget. Each participant will receive up to two hours of individual coaching by appointment. Each participant will receive up to two hours of individual coaching by appointment.

Leadership Principles
16-Hour course
Center-Based: 10/24/2024 and 5/1/2025
Home-Based: 7/9/2024 and 1/14/2025
Providers will learn how to build and strengthen their leadership teams. As a result of this training, participants will be able to identify characteristics of effective leaders; develop effective, emotionally intelligent teams; adapt their communication styles to various relationships; evaluate various approaches to conflict resolution; and execute effective coaching plans. Each participant will receive up to two hours of individual coaching by appointment.
Eligible for both Career Ladder and NAC credits.
