Judicial Process

Student Informed of Allegations

You'll receive a formal notice from the Dean of Students within five days of someone reporting a violation of the code. The letter will explain the allegations, when and where they occurred, and a summary of supporting details. They may share the names of those involved, but not always.

Judicial Conference with the Dean

It's important to attend a meeting with the Dean (judicial conference) within the given timeframe. This meeting is your chance to explain your side of the story and provide any relevant information. You are welcome to bring legal counsel with you as an advisor if you like. If you miss the meeting or can't be reached, a decision may be made without your input, and you can't appeal.

Investigation

After your meeting, the Dean will look into the legitimacy of the accusations. The goal is to gather all the facts to make a fair decision.

Findings and Sanctions

The Dean will determine if you are responsible and what next steps, if any, should follow. You'll receive a letter informing you of the decision, any accountability measures (sanctions), and your right to appeal if you disagree.

Appeal Request

If you believe the decision is incorrect, you can formally appeal in writing within five days. An appeal will only be considered if you can provide new, significant information not previously known or if there were errors committed in the implementation of the judicial process. Use this Student Conduct Appeal Form to start the appeal process.
